Switching to Glass

The mold for the glare shield

Now that we are working on some molds for parts that are non structural we’re switching to using fiberglass instead of carbon fiber. The reason is that these parts do not have to be post cured in an oven so there is no need to have molds that are created from the same material as the part.

In this case the glare shield part will still be constructed from carbon fiber even though it’s mold is made from fiberglass.

Just a heads up that I will be at AirVenture in Oshkosh on Wednesday July 27th at 8:30am at the AeroPlane Workshop giving a talk on what it’s taken to get to this point with the Raptor program. If you’re there please come by as I’d love to meet some of you and have time to answer some of your questions.
