Some Assembly Required

After successfully loading up the CNC on Wednesday Jeff and I had most of Thursday to relax before our evening flight back to Atlanta. So we decided to head into Boulder to check it out and ended up taking a drive up to the amphitheater that overlooks the town. As you can see below it has quite a view of the surrounding area.

For lunch we met with one of our earlier depositors at Front Range Airport. It’s always great to meet the customers and discuss the project. Thanks Lonnie!

We had an uneventful flight back although we were a bit shocked to see the seating on board the A319. The seats were similar to modern bus seats with no audio, no recline mechanism and in fact there was not a single TV screen in the entire cabin. These guys are making it even easier for us to sell Raptors.

After dropping Jeff off, I finally got back at around 1 am which left just enough time to get some sleep before we were to unload the truck first thing in the morning. I was supposed to meet the guy dropping off the fork lift at 8 am but he called at 7:35 and was already there. Fortunately I’m only 7 minutes away so I was quickly there to meet him. I was also surprised to see the big rig carrying our machine parked behind the shop. He had arrived during the night and was sleeping right up until we were ready to unload.

Jeff and the crew showed up soon afterward and we began unloading. Things went smoothly so we decided to begin assembly of the CNC and by 4:30 it was together. There are still quite a few cables and connectors to hook up and we are scheduling an alignment for it but the heavy work is done with nothing damaged.

Our new machine almost completely set up

It’s definitely satisfying to have our own CNC machine. It’s going to save us a lot of time and give us complete control over creating the plugs for the molds. We are also certain there are going to be all kinds of other uses we will have for it.

This coming week Jeff will be back working towards finishing up the scale model as it’s been on hold while we’ve been setting up the shop. I’ll be doing all kinds of things including speaking with the guys who are going to be making the mods to our engine. It arrived at their shop last week.

Overall things are moving along steadily and we’re definitely happy with the progress we are making.
